Laurent Bertrand, Managing Director, Fiducial Office Solutions

France's number three contract stationer Fiducial Office Solutions turned to an experienced company insider following the departure of Bart Rentmeesters last August.

Laurent Bertrand joined the firm in 2003 and occupied a number of management roles in marketing, logistics and the Graphic Art division before being offered the top job.

The reseller continues to faces pressures from falling sales and thinning margins in a highly competitive market and just managed to break even in its last financial year as sales fell 3.4% to €213 million ($290 million). Further cost reduction initiatives have been implemented with the mothballing of operations in Spain, the closure of a retail outlet in the north of France and the recent news of the decision to exit the Saciprint commercial print business.

When Rentmeesters joined the firm in 2011 there was speculation that this would result in the sell-off of Fiducial, and the company is still the subject of take-over and consolidation talk in the French market.
