4 January 2005 – London (UK): Sponsoring organisation the British Contract Furnishing Association (BCFA) along with Reed Exhibitions have announced the cancellation of UK office furniture tradeshow WorkPlace 05.
The decision to cancel the London-based event was made as a result of considerable market research among industry leaders, exhibitors and visitors, said the organisers.
Peter Smith of BCFA said: "With the complexity of, and change in, distribution channels and buying patterns, we feel than en exhibition is not necessarily the right platform for our industry at the moment."
Matt Thompson, Reed Exhibitions’ divisional managing director, added: "The decision to cancel WorkPlace is one that we do not take lightly. For many years, we have enjoyed a close and fruitful relationship with the BCFA but, sadly, neither party felt that we were in a position to deliver a fully comprehensive event for the coming year."
