7 January 2005 – Federal Way (WA): Weyerhaeuser has become the latest OP manufacturer to give money to the tsunami relief efforts, by making an initial donation of $100,000 to aid group CARE’s Asia Quake Disaster Fund.
The company has also pledged to match up to $100,000 in employee donations to CARE and is currently seeking ways of donating products to long-term relief efforts, it has disclosed.
Liz Crossman, president of the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation and director of corporate communications, said: "Devastation of this magnitude is an overwhelming and unfathomable loss to humanity. Our hearts are with those who are suffering, and those who have lost their homes, their livelihood and their loved ones."
