1 August 2006 — Federal Way (WA): Weyerhaeuser Company and the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation have pledged $1 million to The Nature Conservancy in support of forest conservation and biodiversity projects in northwest and south east of the US.
Weyerhaeuser owns or leases 6.4 million acres of managed forests in the two regions and the company’s foundation is keen to improve the quality of life in communities where the company’s presence is felt and to promote understanding of the importance of sustainability of forests.
Since its creation in 1948, the foundation has donated more than $183 million to non-profit organisations.
