22 June 2006 — Federal Way (TX): Officials at Weyerhaeuser have pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent in the next 14 years.

A statement from Ernesta Ballard, SVP of corporate affairs, said the company was intending to use renewable biomass in the forest products company’s boilers, used to generate energy at mills.

The paper manufacturer’s mills currently generate 72 percent of their energy from biomass, which consists of bark and pulping material.
