9 August 2006 — Federal Way (WA): Weyerhaeuser is planning to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at its Washington headquarters.
In order to do this, the company has had to measure its carbon footprint by enlisting the services of a local high school science teacher. The scale of the footprint is dependent on the quantity of greenhouse gas emissions come from electrical and gas consumption at the site, and emissions caused by employees.
The company has pledged to reduce emissions by 40 percent by 2020 while reducing its reliance on fossil fuels.
Weyerhaeuser has also announced that it is to delist its common stock from the NYSE Arca, formerly the Pacific Stock Exchange. The company’s shares will continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange and the Chicago Stock Exchange.
