Welcome to OPI Spy, the only gossip column written for the global OP industry

Which highly respected and well-rewarded industry chief was spotted at the Henkel stand at a recent US exhibition in a bit of a fix? The office products veteran was spied desperately trying to superglue his shoe back together. Must be heavy-going at those US trade events.
Corporate Express (CE) supremo Frans Koffrie was conspicuous by his absence last month at a two-day CE senior management event in the US. Even more intriguing was a throw-away line buried deep within a research note, released by Dutch retail bank SNS, which talked of the company’s short-term increased share value under a "new management team". Do they know something the rest of us don’t?

Trouble at Xerox: A much-heralded UK press launch of a new colour-enabled "extensible interface platform" printer had to be scrapped. Despite promising to "ultimately change how we interact with printing and imaging devices and redefine the workplace", the September event was called off because Xerox couldn’t book a security guard!
What a difference a year makes. Office Depot head Steve Odland must be looking with alarm at the sliding share price of the Delray Beach-based multinational. At least the renowned Monty Python fan will be well versed in the words of the all-time Python classic tune Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.

OPI Spy would like to pass on its congratulations to Masters Group International managing director Derek Rogers, who married the firm’s sales director Tracey Pearce last month. Good luck to the pair of you from all of the OPI team.
