Wal-Mart secures India deal

27 November 2006 — Mumbai (IND): Wal-Mart has formed a joint venture with Bharti Enterprises that will allow the retailer to open ‘hundreds of stores’ across India over a five year period.

It is understood that Wal-Mart beat off stiff competition for the Bharti deal from Tesco, Carrefour and Metro.
