Wal-Mart will take a tougher approach with suppliers who fail to support its use of RFID technology, the Financial Times reports.
The retailer has deployed RFID tagging at 500 stores and five of its 117 distribution centres and is planning to double the number of stores handling the technology by the end of 2006.
According to Wal-Mart CIO Linda Dillman, the company has "started communicating to some of the suppliers that have been reluctant – which is a nice why of saying it – to say, ‘we can’t invest any more time in you’".
