20 March 2006 – Shenzhen (CHN): Wal-Mart plans to hire about 150,000 people in China in the next five years as it prepares for a major store expansion.
Joe Hatfield, CEO of Wal-Mart Asia, said the company plans to open 20 stores in the country this year. Wal-Mart currently operates 56 stores in the country employing about 30,000 people, but lags behind other chains such as Carrefour SA which has 78 stores.
