Wal-Mart looking to eastern Europe

27 June 2005 – Bentonville (AR): Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott has said that the retailer is looking to expand in central and eastern Europe.

The company is keen to continue achieving 30 per cent of its sales growth outside the US.

Scott has named Poland, Hungary and Russia as attractive countries and commented: "We have a portfolio we are working on. It doesn’t matter to us which one of these will be first, we want all of them at some point."
