Wal-Mart backs September sales targets

20 September 2004 – Chicago (IL): Wal-Mart Stores has announced it still expects a two per cent to four per cent increase in September US sales, despite the effect of Hurricane Ivan in some locations.

The firm has said that more than 70 locations were affected by Hurricane Ivan during the week, but that ultimately hurricanes are mildly beneficial to sales as consumers stock up on merchandise for the storm.
