UPM turns to Uruguay

7 March 2005 – Helsinki (FIN): UPM is investing $76 million in Botnia’s pulp mill project in Uruguay.

Botnia, one of Europe’s largest chemical pulp producers and 47 per cent owned by UPM and M-real, plans to build a pulp mill in Fray Bentos, with an annual production capacity of one million tons of bleached eucalyptus pulp. The mill is scheduled to be up and running in Q3 2007.
