1 November 2005 – Helsinki (FIN): UPM-Kymmene has recorded a drop in Q3 profit due to increasing costs for raw material and energy, but expects the rise in costs to be "only moderate" for the rest of the year.
The company reported net profit of €111 million ($133 million), down from €165 million a year earlier. Sales were €2.24 billion, down 8 per cent from €2.45 billion in Q3 2004.
The paper maker said the seven-week labour dispute in Finland, which ended early July, had a negative impact of €20 million in its Q3 and hurt paper deliveries.
