UPM has announced it is to start negotiations with employees at five of its wood products plants in Finland concerning possible plant closures, process restructuring and adjustments of resources.

UPM is seeking to adjust its wood product production to react to market fluctuations inclusing the supply of raw materials, which is expected to considerably improve the company’s financial results.

The plants affected are sawmills in Aureskoski, which faces the possibility of closure, Alholma and Kajaani and the Viiala and Kuopio plywood mills.
