UPM-Kymmene has concluded negotiations with employee representatives regarding staff arrangements for the pending closure of paper machines 1 and 2 at its Finland-based Kymi paper mill at the end of the year.
The negotiations applied to 59 employees, rather than the 65 initially mentioned, and included various plans for the retirement and relocation of personnel to other positions at UPM’s mills
in Kuusankoski and elsewhere within the company.
The firm intends to implement the personnel arrangements during 2006.
Just a few days earlier, the firm had revealed that it will cut up to 140 jobs from its IT unit in a bid to boost efficiency.
