UK Government wasting money on stationery – report

18 December 2006 — London (UK): The UK Government is spending up to £10.55 on a pack of 12 Post-it Notes instead of their normal retail price of roughly £1.75, according to a new report by the National Audit Office.

The report claims that the government is wasting approximately £660 million on over-priced stationery.

Orders are placed through the Government’s central purchasing company OGCbuying.solutions. It is thought that the purchasing company adds to the cost of stationery by printing customised department logos on it.

According to reports, the Commons Public Accounts Committee plans to launch an inquiry.
