Torres, the Chilean manufacturer of school and office stationery, has acquired notebook producer Austral’s industrial machinery and equipment from CMPC, the Chilean paper and pulp company. The acquisition will allow Torres to increase exports and domestic sales. Austral will cease to produce its traditional product in March 2005.
