Tom Morgan joins Tech Data board

8 February 2007 — Clearwater (FL): Tech Data has appointed OP veteran Tom Morgan to its board of directors.

Morgan is best known for his long tenure as EVP at SP Richards where he was regarded as being groomed for the top. Surprisingly he left the company in 1997 to join Jon Ledecky at US Office Products before moving onto the much-hyped and long defunct online retailer Value America.

Most recently Morgan served as CEO at Hughes Supply, a distributor of construction, repair and maintenance products. Under his leadership, Hughes Supply’ revenues increased from $3 billion to $5.4 billion between 2003 and 2006 when the company was acquired by The Home Depot.

John Williams, chair of Tech Data’s governance and nominating committee, said: "We are pleased to have Thomas Morgan join Tech Data’s board of directors. His broad operating knowledge coupled with a track record of accomplished leadership will assist Tech Data’s continued advancement as a technology supply chain leader."
