Tesco chief reveals OP segment boost

24 September 2004 – Cheshunt (UK): Tesco CEO Terry Leahy has said the supermarket has made "excellent progress" in its non-food categories.

Announcing first half results, Leahy revealed that sales in the non-food category including office and school supplies rose 23 per cent.

He added: "The transformation of our non-food offer has continued at a fast pace, resulting in sales growth, in the UK alone, of 17 per cent during the first half."
