4 May 2006 – Grapevine (TX): The Office Products Wholesalers Association (OPWA) has elected Joe Templet as its new president at the Office Products Executive Summit in Texas.
Templet, an industry veteran with 25 years of experience, is currently SVP of trade development for United Stationers.
"OPWA is an important organisation in our industry. It is playing a major role in the advancement of standards including units of measurement, product descriptions and manufacturer identifications," said Templet. "I am also very encouraged by the continuing partnership with the Office Products Representatives Association (OPRA). We’ve just announced plans to hold the 2007 Office Products Executive Summit on September 6 – 9, 2007 in Naples, Florida. If this year’s summit is any indication, then 2007 should be a stellar event."
Also elected as OPWA officers were Alan Goldner, VP of United Supply Corp and Jack Reagan, secretary/treasurer of ActionEmco. Gregg DeVries remains on the OPWA board as immediate past president. Tom Downs of Smead was elected to manufacturers’ division chair, and John Donofrio, 3M, was elected to the board.
