Boise Cascade has posted
a higher than expected Q3 profit, thanks to strong product prices and the sale of some Idaho timberlands.
The firm recorded net income of $61.1 million, or EPS of $0.63, up from $32.9 million, or EPS of $0.48, the same period last year.
Sales rose 73 per cent to $3.65 billion, compared with $2.11 billion a year earlier.
Boise Office Solutions (BOS) posted a huge year-on-year sales rise following the inclusion of OfficeMax figures. Sales lifted to $2.2 billion from $934 million a year earlier. In a conference call, BOS CEO Chris Milliken said the firm is cautious over Q4 as "high energy costs and a continuation of current retail trends may lead to a weak holiday season."
