Staples denies plans to pull Sinclair ads

10 January 2005 – Framingham (MA): Staples has denied reports that it is to discontinue advertising alongside news programmes on Sinclair-owned television stations.

Last week, activist organisation Media Matters issued a statement saying that Staples was pulling commercials during the station’s news broadcasts following customer complaints over the media company’s right-wing undertones.

But in a company statement, the retail giant has claimed it has no policy against advertising during Sinclair news and that it would continue to place commercials.

"Our media buying process with Sinclair Broadcast Group stations has recently been misrepresented by an organisation with no affiliation to Staples," said the statement.

Staples has advertised with Sinclair for more than 12 years.
