SPR strikes Sam’s Club deal

SP Richards (SPR) has allegedly signed a deal to supply Sam’s Club’s new office products programme with 5,600 of its 7,000 branded items.

Approximately two million catalogues were reportedly mailed to Sam’s Club business customers at the end of August. It is believed that SPR will provide fulfilment with US Express, Federal Express and 3PL provider Bekins delivering the goods.

This type of deal is not without precedent – SPR’s chief rival United Stationers is believed to have a similar deal with Sam’s Club competitor Costco. The two leading US wholesalers have also been supplying the power channel for many years.

At the time of writing, SPR had declined to comment officially on the news.
