Spicers has announced the acquisition of Timmermans. The largest OP wholesaler in the Benelux markets had sales of €45 million ($55 million) in 2004 and employs 130 people.
Spicers CEO Bill Armstrong said: "This is a very important extension of the Spicers business. Timmermans is a clear market leader in Benelux with a business model identical to that of Spicers elsewhere in Europe. I am delighted that Michel and Patrick Timmermans have agreed to stay on and manage the business that they have so successfully developed. Their considerable knowledge and experience will strengthen our overall business."
In a joint statement, brothers Michel and Patrick Timmermans said: "Timmermans has been a family business since 1954. We felt that this was the right time to secure the future of both the company and our excellent workforce.
"We concluded that the best solution was to join forces with Spicers. Its business model has always been an inspiration for Timmermans."
