23 August 2006 — Greenville (WI): School Specialty is voluntarily recalling its Brighter Child and Ideal brand science kits.
The kits which, were made in South Africa and sold by the company’s publishing division in Columbus, Ohio, pose a potential fire hazard due to risks of the battery casing overheating.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has reported that one child received minor burns to his fingers.
The affected science kits were sold between July 2004 and May 2006.
