28 November 2006 — Lisbon (POR): grupo Portucel Soporcel has reported its financial results for the first nine months of 2006.
Total sales for the period increased by 6.7 percent to €794.2 million ($1.04 billion) from €744.3 a year earlier.
Paper sales accounted for 68 percent of total sales, pulp sales for 25 percent and the remaining seven percent came from the sale of biomass energy.
According to the company, its sales also benefited from the increased volume of paper sales and also from the rise in prices of both paper and pulp.
The group’s net income was €94.9 million.
