Sales up at United

United Stationers has posted net sales of $1.06 billion for its Q1, up from $987 million a year ago, thanks to sales gains across all its product categories.

Net income rose to $27 million, or EPS of $0.80, up from $23.4 million, or EPS of $0.68, last year.

President/CEO Dick Gochnauer said: "Our Q1 sales growth reflects the success of our sales initiatives, as well as a stronger overall economy and the benefits of product price inflation.

"Our sales momentum remains strong through the first part of the second quarter."
