28 February 2006 – Framingham (MA): Staples has reported a 15 per cent increase in Q4 profit, boosted by strong North American sales at both its retail stores and office supply delivery business.
Net income for the quarter that ended on 28 January rose to $290 million, or EPS of $0.39, from $251.3 million, or EPS of $0.33, a year earlier. Sales grew 9 per cent to $4.46 billion, compared with $4.08 billion a year ago.
For the full fiscal year of 2005 the company reported net income $834 million, or EPS of $1.12, up 18 per cent from $708 million, or EPS of $0.93, the previous year. Sales rose 11 per cent to $16.1 billion from $14.4 billion.
