Report: Tesco’s army of non-food buyers

17 February 2006 – Cheshunt (UK): Tesco is looking to recruit 150 non-food buyers from its rivals, reports Retail Week.
The recruitment drive intends to help the retailer fulfil its goal to be as big in non-food as it is in food. The retailer has earmarked fashion, toys and electricals as categories where it can generate significant growth and is also poised to enter new arenas such as furniture. Tesco is also understood to be recruiting buyers for its new catalogue venture, expected to launch later this year.
