Canon files 11 patent infringement suits

Tokyo, Japan. Canon has filed 11 patent infringement suits against 18 manufacturers, distributors and resellers.

The company said in a statement that the infringing cartridges are sold for use in more than 50 models of Canon and Hewlett-Packard laser beam printers. 

Filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, Canon is seeking damages and injunctive relief with the lawsuits.

Canon said: "Throughout the development, sales and marketing process, Canon respects the intellectual property of other companies and individuals and expects others to similarly respect Canon’s intellectual property rights. Canon remains committed to pursuing legal enforcement against those who do not respect Canon’s intellectual property."
