UK office products trade association BOSS hosted over 100 delegates for its Leaders of the Future (LOTF) virtual conference last week.
“In a year that has already been challenging for many, it was brilliant to connect so many leaders of the future in our sector and witness the enthusiasm shown for engaging with the speakers’ ideas and participating in the roundtable sessions,” said BOSS CEO Amy Hutchinson.
In addition to three keynote presentations, there were two industry panels and four roundtable debates. Mark Shayler, founder of Ape, presented the first keynote and discussed how businesses can innovate to provide a better service with less environmental harm.
Ali Green, Head of HR at Open, gave her perspective on what the workplace will look like in 2021 and how employee training and up-skilling should be key elements of business strategies due to changing workforce demographics.
Final keynote speaker OSI Sales Director Tom Dickinson shared his story on mental well-being and the journey taken to be where he is today. He also spoke about the role social media plays on mental health.
The four roundtable discussions covered e-commerce, mental health and well-being, sales and marketing, and how to present yourself virtually. The final session of the day was a lively panel discussion hosted by BOSS Chairman and CEO of EO Group Simon Drakeford. The audience heard from five future leaders of the industry and their thoughts on what 2021 will hold for the sector, in addition to their learnings from 2020. There were mixed views from the panel on 2021, although all agreed the new normal will be different and not mean going back to the conditions that prevailed in 2019.
Videos of all sessions will be released shortly for BOSS members. Please visit the website to view them.
