Cancer research and treatment organisation City of Hope (COH) is to acquire Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), a network of oncology hospitals and outpatient care centres across the US.
Combined, COH and CTCA will be one of the largest cancer research and treatment organisations in the US, serving approximately 115,000 patients each year. COH said this strategic acquisition will “transform the future of cancer care”.
“This is a defining moment in the fight against cancer and a powerful opportunity to reach more cancer patients with the leading treatments, care and advanced research they critically need,” said COH CEO Robert Stone. “CTCA has a strong commitment to patient-centric cancer care, and combining its network and services with City of Hope’s scientific expertise, clinical trials and patient care strengths will significantly increase the number of people who can access the latest lifesaving treatments.”
The National Business Products Industry has raised more than $230 million for the COH since 1983, with the latest fundraising effort – led by Sylvamo’s Greg Gibson – achieving a total of $14.5 million.
