Two leading cleaning products manufacturers are in the top three of Barron’s 2023 list of the 100 most sustainable US companies.
Heading the rankings is Clorox. It is its second time in the top five and fifth consecutive year in the top 25 since the list was first released in 2018. The firm was selected for its continued efforts around sustainability, diversity and transparency. Its environmental achievements include:
Surpassing science-based targets to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% by 2030, with a longer-term goal to achieve net-zero emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2050.
Reaching the goal to source 100% of its electricity from renewable energy for US and Canadian operations.
Attaining zero-waste-to-landfill status in nearly half of its facilities and more than three-quarters of its plants.
Reaching 84% of the company’s goal to have 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging by 2025.
Meanwhile, Kimberly-Clark took third place in the list, marking the fourth consecutive year the company has been featured.
