Polish PC market loses its lustre

Printer shipments in Poland showed modest growth last year but dropped in value terms.

According to IDC, shipment of units lifted 2.1 per cent while dropping 3.5 per cent in value terms. The drop was attributed to aggressive pricing and the inkjet segment shifting from the mid-range to lower-end machines.

IDC Poland managing director Andrzej Jarosz said: "There is pretty fierce competition between the handful of vendors that control most of the Polish market. This will continue to push down prices, while also requiring vendors to develop more complete document management solutions."
