23 March 2005 – London (UK): Peter Tilley, the founder and inspiration behind the UK’s first superdealer, Copygraphic, has passed away.

West London-based Copygraphic was set up by Tilley in the mid 70s and by the late 80s, was already racing towards £20 million ($37.6 million) in annual sales. The company’s sales people were among the first to offer high discounts on the Spicers catalogue, a selling formula since copied by hundreds of dealers.

Proficiency Group’s Peter Frost, friend and former colleague, said: "Peter was larger than life, a real driving force, a super salesman and great fun. Personally, Peter Tilley was a great mentor and I will forever remember him…he had a masters degree in common sense."
