Back office and e-commerce software provider ECi2 has named Ron Books as its new President. Books’ promotion follows the departure of former CEO Dan Pritchard. Books told OPI that he will continue in his COO role and that he will maintain a very "hands on" approach with the company’s independent dealer customers. He has been with ECi2 since 1999 when he started at former subsidiary Online Office Supplies Company (OOSC), rising to President a year later before overseeing the sell-off of OOSC in 2001. He continued on as VP of Sales for ECi2 being promoted to SVP of Operations in 2003 and COO in 2006. The company has also recently made two key management appointments, naming Michael Gibson SVP of Worldwide Sales and Trevor Greunewald as SVP.
"We have a strong and growing leadership team in place and our focus to strengthen our customers’ businesses has never been greater," said Books. "We are all excited about the future of ECi2 and the markets we serve and will continue to bring in top tier talent as we continue to grow."
Online office supplier Shoplet has taken on a new SVP of Marketing and Vendor Relations. Experienced OP manager Inez Paroly has joined the New York-based company after a career spanning more than 20 years that includes positions at BT Office Products, Corporate Express, Allied Office Products and, most recently, Royal Office Products where she was responsible for overseeing and managing the relationship between resellers, wholesalers and manufacturers. "The addition of Inez to Shoplet’s management team comes at the perfect time, especially in light of the recent vacancy left by our own Robert Dorfman’s decision to start a new chapter in his life outside of Shoplet and the office products sector," said CEO Tony Ellison. "Inez’s two decades of experience not only fills this void, but provides Shoplet with the backbone and strength to continue its unprecedented growth and dominance of the office products industry."
Shredder manufacturer HSM has promoted Bob Ouellette to President of HSM America. Ouellette was appointed VP of Sales and Marketing in April 2007 and, according to CEO Irene Dengler, he has done "an outstanding job" in furthering the re-organisation and growth of the business. The appointment took effect from 1 January.
OfficeMax has named Tony Giuliano as its new Treasurer and VP of Investor Relations. Giuliano will oversee treasury and risk management activities as well as investor relations for the company.
The 50-year-old joins OfficeMax from ACCO where he had been treasurer since 2005 and where he was responsible for integrating and managing the merged global treasury activities of ACCO and GBC.
Highly respected industry veteran Tim Fallihee has announced his retirement from Pentel after 30 years with the company. He has a long and interesting history with the company. Fallihee first began working for Pentel of America in 1978 and has held various leadership sales positions throughout the years, most recently as Director of Sales. A highlight last year was when Fallihee was named Leader of the Year by OPWA, the Office Products Wholesalers Association. "I want to thank Tim for his outstanding contribution to Pentel of America for the last 30 years," said Marty Furman, COO of Pentel of America. "Tim has earned the respect of the entire office products industry. His professionalism, character and loyalty will definitely be missed. We wish him and his family the very best." Fallihee will be succeeded as Director of Sales by Mike Cappadocia, who took up the post on 1 January. "We have been grooming Mike for this position for some time," stated Furman. "Mike and Tim have worked closely for the last year ensuring a smooth, seamless transition." Cappadocia joined Pentel in 2007 from Norwood Promotional Products and prior to that spent 17 years at Avery Dennison.
ACCO has appointed a successor to Boris Elisman at its Computer Products Group. Christopher Franey takes over the role from Elisman who was promoted to President of the company’s reorganised Americas business unit in October. Franey joins ACCO from Samsung’s US business where he was VP Marketing and Commercial Sales for the group’s computer products division. He has also held executive positions at ViewSonic and Kurta.
Contract manufacturer of print consumables and supplies XPS has named Paul Jeffery as Business Development Manager. Jeffery took up his position in November and is responsible for sales activities in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Africa.
New Zealand dealer group Office Products Depot (OPD) has named the successor to former CEO Rob MacGregor. Dianne McAteer takes the helm of the country’s largest locally owned chain of B2B office products suppliers following a 17-year career in the FMCG, travel and retail health sectors in New Zealand. McAteer was General Manager for the Visique Optometrists group for five years and helped the then start-up franchise grow to 90 outlets throughout New Zealand during that period. She has also held senior marketing and management roles at Cadbury, Sealord and the House of Travel group during her career. McAteer is a trustee for the Breast Cancer Research Trust and a board member for the Auckland Property Investors Association. OPD’s Chairman Bruce Hurst commented that McAteer’s experience would help drive the group during its next stage of growth, now that its internet purchasing and customer relationship management system is live nationwide.
