Research companies IDC and Gartner have reported significant growth in computer shipments in Q2.
IDC reported growth of 16.6 per cent compared to the previous year, beating estimates of 12.3 per cent. Gartner, meanwhile, reported increases of 14.8 per cent.
Banc of America Securities has raised its 2005 estimate of worldwide PC shipment growth to 13.7 per cent from 10 per cent, and has posted a 2006 estimate of 9.8 per cent.
The company said: "Dell continues to be our top pick in the PC hardware space. We expect Dell to maintain its healthy growth and thus gain in market share (to 17.7 per cent versus 16.9 per cent in 2004) from its less efficient competitors."
