On 7 November, teams from across all distribution channels in our sector will climb some of the Lake District’s highest peaks, all in aid of the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR).
Since COL founder Graeme Chapman starting fundraising 27 years ago, over £1.1 million ($1.7 million) has been raised for a number of causes. In the past seven years, all monies have gone towards the ICR – one the leading cancer research laboratories in the world that works closely with other major international organisations to ensure the best results are obtained worldwide – raising a total of £482,000. But the need for more funds is as evident at OPI as it is for so many people around the world. Only last month, a former OPI employee, Michelle Richards, very sadly lost her battle with cancer at the very young age of 34.
To one day make that kind of tragedy a thing of the past, Team OPI – this year comprising Steve and Kelly Hilleard, Janet Bell, India Pride and Heike Dieckmann – together with many like-minded OP people will be braving wet and wintery conditions and climb all the major peaks in the Lake District in just one day. In return, we would like your help!
With the help of all their colleagues at OPI, Team OPI are hoping to beat last year’s donations worth £19,000 (the total amount raised in 2013 between all the teams taking part in the Climb of Life was £80,000).
