2 August 2005 – Itasca (IL): OfficeMax is in talks with city officials in both Illinois and Cleveland over the alleged move of its headquarters to the Cleveland area. Both towns are offering the retailer financial incentives, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune.
OfficeMax is still reviewing a number of potential sites for its headquarters, which could house as many as 1,500 staff members. There are currently around 700 working in Itasca.
Bill Bonner told opi.net that although financial incentives will be taken into consideration, factors such as infrastructure and workforce will be more important to the decision making process.
He added that the company is not working to a set timescale.
