What were your childhood ambitions? To become someone like Richard Branson, but definitely without the beard.
Who was your pin-up as a teenager? The list would fill this page, but I will never forget Elke Jeinsen in a 1985 edition of a famous magazine with entertainment for men.
What was your first car? I did my sister a favour and took over her leasing contract for a Renault Twingo. I had to buy a BMW a year later to regain my male self-esteem.
What was the first record you bought?Hunting High and Low by A-ha. Yes, I know it’s embarrassing…
What is your favourite holiday destination? Antibes on the Cote D’Azur. It is ridiculously expensive, but compared to London still cheap.
If you could build your house anywhere, where would it be? On top of Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath in London. The value would triple within months.
If you could be a superhero, what superpower would you choose to have and why? Superman. The father of all superheroes. Flying is obviously the best thing about him.
What was your biggest mistake in life? Investing into internet companies that I didn’t know anything about.
Which industry figure do you most admire? My father.
What has been the best moment in your career? Doing business at the InterContinental in Hong Kong.
What have been the worst moments in your career? Returning the greatest sports cars to Dr Wolfensberger (Peach) after business travel and then driving home in my Renault Twingo.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? The ability not to lose my hair.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had? Asking people on the street more than 100 questions about their mobile phone and network provider. They hated me.
Have you ever read a book that changed your life? Well, I guess it’s Man and Boy by Tony Parsons.
What has been your biggest achievement? Finding the most beautiful English woman and marrying her.
