12 February 2007 — Toronto (CAN): Domtar has said that president and CEO Raymond Royer will continue in his role after the company’s merger with Weyerhaeuser’s fine paper business, forming Domtar Corporation.
Marvin Cooper, Weyerhaeuser’s former senior VP of cellulose fibre, white papers and containerboard manufacturing will serve as EVP, COO and be a member of the board.
Domtar’s existing senior VP of pulp and paper sales and marketing, Steven Barker will serve Domtar Corporation as senior VP of marketing.
Royer said: "This is a very strong leadership team with deep industry and integration experience. I am delighted to be able to count on such an outstanding combination of talented and dedicated individuals from Domtar and Weyerhaeuser."
The transaction has already been approved by Canadian authorities in accordance with the Investment Canada Act and Domtar’s special shareholders approval meeting will take place in Montreal on 26 February.
The merger will create the largest fine paper company in North America.
