MPA debuts Portugal OP market study

24 November 2005 – London (UK): MPA International has published The Portuguese Office Products Market 2004-2009, its first-ever study of the OP market in Portugal.

The report reveals the market is worth €619.8 million ($730.8 million) at manufacturers’ selling price, a rise of 2.2 per cent in value terms between 2003 and 2004.

The survey stated that overall market growth was slow largely due to the economic recession Portugal was suffering, which has depressed demand and resulted in severe price competition. The electronic office supplies (EOS) industry was shown to have enjoyed value growth in 2004, but was now slowing.

The report also includes a focus on the size and structure of the market, provides comparative data for 2003 and looks ahead to 2009.

OP dealers and contract stationers accounted for 34 per cent of the distribution channel in Portugal in 2004.
