Microsoft unveils book-sized computer

9 March 2006 – Hanover (GER): Microsoft has unveiled its much-hyped Project Origami at the annual CeBIT technology trade show in Germany.

The product itself is an ultracompact computer which runs Windows XP with a touchscreen and wireless connectivity. Two models from different manufacturers are expected to be released by spring and Microsoft says they’ll be about an inch thick and weigh less than 2.5 lbs – about the size of a large paperback book.

Future editions will support Windows Vista, a version of Microsoft’s flagship operating system due out later this year.
