Metro to ‘double’ Chinese presence

7 November 2006 — Beijing (CHN): German retailer Metro is said to be considering expanding its cash-and-carry presence in China by the end of the decade, according to the Financial Times.

Hans-Joachim Körber, Metro’s chairman and chief executive, told the newspaper that the company would ensure that its expansion rate would not adversely affect its control of its stores or quality standards in the country.
