Lenovo’s Q3 profit expected to soar

24 January 2006 – Shanghai (CHN): Lenovo is expected to post a Q3 net profit of HK$459 million ($59 million), a 40 per cent rise on last year, Reuters reports.
The rise in profit is driven by the computer-maker’s purchase of IBM’s PC business for $1.25 billion last year. Q3 revenue is expected to reach HK$30.6 billion.
Analysts expect lower-end notebook PCs to be a crucial market if the world’s third-largest PC manufacturer is to establish itself against its rivals Hewlett-Packard and Dell, positioned at number one and two respectively.
