Lenovo steps out of China

23 February 2006 – New York (NY): Lenovo is to unveil Lenovo-branded computers outside China for the first time.

The world’s third-largest computer maker, behind Dell and HP, will mark the occasion at a press conference today in 10 cities worldwide, including New York, Paris, and Turin.

The move comes off the back of a massive brand recognition exercise, which included sponsorship of the Olympic Winter Games, following the company’s purchase of IBM in May 2005.

The low-priced desktops and notebooks will be targeted at small businesses and consumers.
