Japanese firms develop TV printers

2 December 2005 – Tokyo (JPN): Japan-based printer manufacturers Canon and Seiko Epson have revealed they are both developing printers that can print information from digital television broadcasts.

The printers will be used primarily to make hard copies of programme-related data, rather than stills of moving images on screen, which may include recipes or travel information from TV programmes formatted for printing.

Both Canon and Seiko make their move in a bid to establish new growth areas as the digital revolution quickens its pace and the office equipment market intensifies.
