IP releases Sustainability report

30 June 2006 — Memphis (TN): International Paper (IP) has released its 2005-2006 Sustainability Update.

The report said the company’s use of fossil fuels decreased 20 percent from 2001 to 2005, detailed public-private partnerships in seven communities designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and reported a reduction in environmental incidents by 65 percent since 2002. It also stated that IP is active in several greenhouse gas emission programmes in the US and abroad.

 

The report, designed to show "transparency" in the company’s environmental affairs, details the company’s progress in environmental compliance and accountability, air and water quality, energy efficiency and forestland stewardship.
