Indian paper maker plays green card

Indian forest products company Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) is planning to start production on the first elemental chlorine free paper (ECF) to be made in eastern India.

HPC is investing some Rs 520 crore ($119 million) in modernising its plants in central and south Assam to help facilitate the ECF process, which the company hopes will give it an edge in the market due to its perceived environmental friendliness.
